 Completion of our application and pre-employment process includes providing valid contact information, social security number, ten years of residence history, up to ten years employment history, educational information, licensing and professional credential information and any other work assignment and job requirements information requested.

 To be considered for employment, please complete all sections of the on-line application process. Your application will then be reviewed. If your availability and qualifications match the requirements of our current openings, we will contact you to arrange an interview. Please do not call regarding the status of your application.

 Upstate Protective Services will conduct criminal background checks on all applicants, including where permitted or required, the submission of fingerprints to a State Identification Bureau and/or to the Federal Bureau of Investigation. A criminal conviction may result in an applicant not being hired. If the conviction is found after hire, the employee may be terminated immediately.

SECURITY OFFICER GUIDELINES

 To be considered for employment with Upstate Protective Services, Security Officers must meet our MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS and QUALITY STANDARDS as listed below:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

At least 18 years of age or older as required by applicable law or contractual requirements

High school diploma / GED or at least 10 years of verifiable work experience

Ability to provide proof of ability to work in the United States

At least one verifiable employer

Ability to read, write and speak English and communicate effectively both orally and in writing

Ability to interact with the public in a direct and professional manner

Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation

No felony convictions or criminal history that would impact ability to perform the duties of the position or that would pose an unreasonable risk to Upstate Protective Services employees, clients or the general public.

No negative results on the pre-employment drug screen

Ability to successfully complete Upstate Protectives Security Officer Basic Course and exam

Ability to provide quality customer service daily as well as handle crisis situations efficiently and effectively at a client site.

Upstate Protective Security Officers:

STATE MANDATED LICENSING

 Many states require that the State Division of Licensing provides the security officer with a state license. If you currently hold a valid license, please bring a copy to your interview. In some states, transfer and new license fees may be required. In many cases, Upstate Protective Services recruiting staff can assist in processing your application to the appropriate state agency and, if it is available, licensing fees can be paid through a payroll deduction.

APPEARANCE

 Men – Conventional haircut, a natural color, collar length in the back, less than half the ear covered on the side. Neat, closely trimmed and groomed beard and mustache (if allowed at the client site). No earrings or piercing to be worn while on duty.

 Women – Conventional haircut, a natural color; if shoulder length or longer, must be pulled back for safety. Post-type earrings no larger than a dime may be worn. No other visible piercing while on duty.

 Upstate Protective Services will make reasonable accommodations for appearance for religious reasons in accordance with state and federal law.

 Your company-issued ID card is also considered part of your uniform and must be worn at all times. If you leave the company, you must surrender your ID card and any items that you have not paid for, in acceptable condition.

IF YOU ARE CALLED FOR AN INTERVIEW, come dressed appropriately and be prepared with the following information:

Photo ID - Driver’s license or State ID, School ID or Military ID or passport

Documentation that indicates you are legally authorized to work in the United States, as listed on and required for completion of the I9 form

Original or a certified copy of High School or College diploma or GED

DD214 (Military Service Discharge)

Valid Security License or Guard Card (where applicable)

Other documentation as requested
